Lemon, Ginger, Honey Tea
As the days become cool, it's important to keep nourished and support our immune system to prevent illness.
Here is a soothing and immune-boosting tea recipe I have been drinking regularly this winter.
Key Ingredients and Nutritional Properties:
Ginger- anti-inflammatory, digestive aide
Lemon- cleansing, promotes circulation and toxin elimination
Honey- soothing, anti-bacterial properties
Cinnamon Stick- warming, stimulating, anti-inflammatory

Steps:
Boil two cups of water in a pot on the stove with 2-3 thick slices of fresh ginger
Simmer for 5 minutes
Squeeze in the juice from half a lemon and simmer for one more minute
Stir in a teaspoon of honey and turn off the heat
Strain into a mug with a cinnamon stick
Sip and enjoy!

More Holistic Winter Wellness Tips:
Here are a few more tips to keep healthy this winter based off Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine principles:
Overall Warmth is Key- keep the head and feet warm with beanies, slippers, scarves and socks. Cold causes constriction of blood vessels (ie. reduced circulation) and constriction of energy. The body loses heat quickly through the head and the feet are an a key meridian channel.
Warming Foods- warm the body from the inside with hearty stews and soups featuring an abundance of vegetables. Vegetables contain essential vitamins and minerals to support the body's immune system and optimal functioning.
Consume Spices- ginger, garlic, cinnamon, star anise all have warming and anti-inflammatory properties.
Keep Active- practice yoga, qigong, or any exercise daily to promote circulation and fluidity in the body. Stagnation and stiffness cause many problems for our health!
Focus on Respiratory Health- pranayama practices, steams and hydration all help to keep the chest open and lungs strong
Seek Sunshine- again, warmth is key! Sunshine also provides Vitamin D, an essential nutrient for optimal immune health.
